United Illuminating vs Southern CT Gas

Let me see if I understand this shiggity. UI Electric bought SC Gas and if you have no heat, Southern CT Gas will come out for a minor fee of $75 dollars. Oh wait it went a little like this, you call the Gas company tell the you have no heat. They inform you they will come out and it will be a $75 fee for the first hour some other ridiculous fee for any portion there after and you must pay for parts if needed. Okay 11:15 the gas man arrives, (he doesn't know I can read and write... smirk) anywho I say to myself, "Self - I betcha he won't be finished until 12:15PM". You are not going to believe this (okay maybe you will) at 12:17 PM my man was packing up!!! Yup only to inform that UNFORTUNATELY he could not fix the problem after he turned in on (8) count 'em EIGHT times. Yup hu huh he sho' 'nuff did. Anywho he proceeds to inform that he needs to get a part, WHAT I exclaim SERIOUSLY no way I said...(I ain't surprised... double smirk). So he says, "The mother board that regulates the fan is not working, so I need a fan." He goes on to add, "They (SCG) will order the part and if it is in stock they will come back and install it." Okay I said as my roots turn a very (light) color (smirking again). So I said, "Well that's not going to fly, I have a child (okay so she's 21) will home soon and we have no heat". So here it comes folks are you ready, (drum roll please) Marketing on Site 101 - Class is in session. He says, "Did you get the $10/month added warranty?" WT# are you talking about no, absolutely not! Anyways he leaves, I get a phone call 30 minutes later after I call the Condo Association to find out what brilliant person hires a snow removal company that LEAVES THE ICE ON THE GROUND! okay that's another chapter, so meanwhile back on the plantation, the CSR from SCG informs me the part will cost a measly $367.70. That's nice. I'm done with this story. Happy New Year. 

Oh wait so the competitors for electric are ConEdison, Constellation - Parent company Exelon, Direct Energy a subsidiary ofCentrica and Low Cost Power parent company Verde Energy. [Electric company - gingle] one of these is not like the other do you know why?

Well it seems no one cares or perhaps I'm not asking the right question.  If United Illuminating bought Southern CT Gas why are folks spending countless hours at the New Haven Community Action Agency getting assistance for their gas bill if they already have winter assistance with United Illuminating?

Additionally one of the companies mentioned above is not in the United States.
