Seriously
Determination

The message in church this morning was don’t let the distractions of the enemy stop God's work. Interesting, I had just heard a message from Pastor Hagee this morning about being watchful of things going on around you, in the news, politics etc. – look for the spiritual happenings in each event. My personal devotional on yesterday was in 1 Corinthians 16:13 where Paul is talking about be on guard, be alert, stand firm in faith and be courageous. Amos 8:11 - 12 speaks to a famine in the land not for food and water but for God's Word. I mention Amos because for a few weeks my life had become so filled with “other” stuff that my devotion taken a back seat, second to “nothing”. My thirst and hunger for the Word was still there but I allowed distractions to prevent me buckling down and doing what I need to do to sustain me everyday not when a crisis occurs. When fear came knocking I thought to myself I better get back on track. Considering I had just had a conversation with my other mother-in-law, I still consider her my mother-in-law, anywho we were talking on Friday about the sermon TD Jakes preached about prayer. He talked about the things we do during the course of everyday living that take an hour or more of our time, yet we don’t pray for an hour. I had said to her that was on my list of things to do immediately - or as soon as I could - pray without ceasing for one hour. (Sound familiar – pray without ceasing?)
Presently I'm in a situation where it looks like my desire for a particular item has been or may be removed. I was a 1000% sure “Maury Povich" that it was in the bag signed sealed and delivered, and then to my dismay I received some news that indicated my desire will soon come to an end in a few days. I thought to myself what in the world is going on. It felt right initially when I acquired it, there were no issues in obtaining it. Ahh, a light bulb went on, what is the difference between an event happening smoothly without distractions and an event happening in spite of distractions? I’ve heard folks say, “If it goes smoothly then you know it was God”. What do you think?
