Scratch and Dents

Scratched and Dented Bus…
As I thought about writing this story I remembered shopping for a refrigerator and a washer and dryer. My husband I went to a store known for having brand new appliances that had either a scratch – (a slight wound) or a dent (an impression in a surface – as made by a blow) and could not be sold at regular prices. The scratches and dents were a result of shipping, mishandling or not being properly protected from creation of the product to its destination. As we shopped around we saw all kinds of great items some were too expensive others were just not what we were looking for. We soon found our washer, dryer and a refrigerator at an affordable price. Of course we wanted the best for less, that included a matching washer and dryer and a chrome front refrigerator that made ice and of course double sided would be nice.
For years we had no problem with items, the ice maker made ice, the freezer froze our food, and water ran through nicely. The washer machine washed our clothes and the dryer dried them to competition. This went on for several years until one day the ice-maker no longer made ice, the freezer side of the refrigerator stopped freezing every now and again so the items in the freezer would thaw out. The connection from the washer machine started to malfunction so the water would not drain properly while the rinse cycle was going. I had many, days in hot and freezing cold weather where I had to sweep out the water so it would not ruin my items in the garage. I realized after many futile attempts to have the appliances repaired that if I had performed the following instructions my appliances would have still been working long after purchase:
- Seek guidance before making a selection;
- Wait for the answer before making a selection;
- Proper Prior Prevention, Prevents Piss Poor Performance
- (The 7 “Ps” from USMC)
We sometimes have a desire for husband, wife, girlfriend or boyfriend throughout our lives. While we are on the “Bus” riding around looking for that someone special we should be seeking guidance before making a selection. Think about who we are where we are in life, what we have to “bring” to the table. More importantly we should also ask have I “fixed” all my scratches and dents in my life. We get scratched by that husband/wife that deserted us or the boyfriend that just would not do right. We get scratched by lack of knowledge and the inability to reach out for help. We get dented by past hurts from our parents and are unable to move forward. Sometimes we find that we are just scratched and dented and have not been able to identify the catalyst. Much like a car or bus that has a huge dent in the fender and is unable to properly make a turn we too can have scratches and dents that hinder us from turning our lives in another direction.
Waiting for clarity on where the next stop for us on our journey is equally important. If you are “bleeding” every time the “scratch” is touched you may not be ready to start at number one. Likewise if you see a scratch coming it may be in your interest to settle down in number two and give the “Mechanic” time to fix the scratch and or dent before pursuing what you see. All of this, if done in proper sequence along with life’s other situations may afford us to have the opportunity to have an appliance that won’t break down in the middle of the street because we didn’t do any work in making our selection, wait for the response and finally we must do the maintenance before the appliance breaks down and to keep from breaking down.
To be continued…..
